Re: What made you mad today?

Those VW Beatles are very popular in college towns these days. Sort of reminiscent of the late 60s and ealy 70s when VW Beatles and micro busses were all the rage. I'm considering a VW Jetta or one of their cross-over or SUV models.

Re: The Pet Talk

My late brother use to live out in Momence Ill on a farm. He was always a dog guy, but his land lord owned a rather large black tom cat who went by the name of Wally. Wally, when it came to humans, other cats and even dogs, was one of the sweetest tempered, loving cat you could ever meet. EXCEPT if...

Re: Early Halloween Gift Exchange Discussion

I don't think it's "mad" at all. In fact, it gives us the rest of July, August and September to coordinate it. I would love to take part in it. I took part in it before everything went 'south for winter' in my life and it was a lot of fun. The way I remember it is we all agreed upon a set amount of...

Re: The Pet Talk

My younger sister had a cat that was a bit on the mean side, except towards me. For some reason or another that cat really loved me and my niece.

Re: First signs of season

At the tender age of 7, "Dark Shadows" was my introduction to the world of vampires, werewolves, ghosts and everything else Halloween. My mom was never a huge fan of picture books that had pictures of monsters in them, but I did have a picture puzzle which featured some sort of a reptilian monster ...

Re: What made you mad today?

Winter of 2014, if I had a dollar for each time I had to in berry my car out of snow, I would be a wealthy man right now. I would dig it out, and an hour later it would be buried again. That was the year of the great polar vortec, which made a little bit of a come back last January. It wasn't as ba...

Re: The Pet Talk

Yep. I had a cat when I was a kid. Believe it or not, we named that poor creature Termites, because when she was a kitten she tore up all the woodwork in the basement family room with her claw sharpening. Anyway, after about a year give or take, Termites had a little of kittens of her own, and they...

Re: First signs of season

Halloween gift wrap, music, movies, books, decorations, you name it, the www has it. Amazon, ebay and a whole host of others are just waiting. Like I said, I have a lot of lost time to make up for. One thing I want to do is to replace all the florescent tubes in my 'man cave' with black lights, and...

Re: First signs of season

No matter what time of the year it is, you can always find great Halloween décor on line. I plan to do that when my next pension check posts to my bank account. My first sign of Halloween will be when the package arrives at my door step.

I agree. Those dogs are too cute for words, but I would like to see some cats.

Re: A Creepy Challenge

Believe it or not, the 'Mary Worth' branch of the 'Bloody Mary' legend was actually one of Chicago's very own, and at the time my friends and I were getting into the 'Mary Worth' dare, we lived there. It seemed to have started in Chicago. The story goes is that there was a girl named Mary Worth who...

Re: What made you mad today?

Believe me, you would. I do love my new house and my new town, but Winter and I will never be what you would call close friends. But at least there aren't any flies and mosquitos buzzing about.

Re: A Creepy Challenge

I think Bloody Mary and Mary Worth are based on the same legend. Mary Worth, at least I think, was more of a Chicago version of that legend, though I can't swear to that. I do know that I never took up that challenge and likely never will.
