Re: How long do you leave your Christmas decorations up?

There will be all kinds of cars at this show, ranging from early 20th Century Model T Fords to various classic muscle cars of 'yester year.' There no doubt will be some new cars, too as the new Dodge Charger and Ford Shelby Mustangs are classics in their own right, even though they aren't old. I kn...

Re: HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

I like to do things on my own, too, rather then rely on tour groups. I haven't done any international vacations in a very long time, but I do plan to take a road trip at some point before I'm too old to enjoy it. I still like to use the old fashioned Rand McNally road maps, and do side-trips if the...

Re: HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

I certainly wish you luck on that one, because I can only imagine how hard tickets to such a passion play could be to get. Some scalper might have a couple for sale, but be prepared to pay through the nose. Heck, it might actually be CHEAPER to rent a Porsche 9 11 and cruise the autobahn. At any ra...

Re: How long do you leave your Christmas decorations up?

I quite agree. It's cheaper to sleep at home, too. Hotels charge an arm and a leg now a days, and my old car just might not make it all the way down to New Orleans. This spring, there's going to be a Classic Car Fest here in Streator which is said to be one of the wildest times of the year. I misse...

Re: HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

That sounds like a fabulous trip! Is there room for me in your suitcase?? (narf narf) But on a serious note, I was in Munich back in 86, and it was a great place. I'll tell you one thing. If I ever make it to Germany again, I intend to rent a Porsche 911 and cruise the Autobahn.

Re: How long do you leave your Christmas decorations up?

Like I said, it would have been fun back in my younger days, but now that I'm older, it just gets too be to much of a hassle, and since my Gastric Bypass surgery, it takes me for ever to eat anything, so it wouldn't be a great time for me. I do still go and check out the Harvest Days Festival in Dw...

Re: What made you mad today?

Thanks, Murf. Like I said, I'll just keep at it until something 'clicks.' In regards to the job market, what might happen is that employers required to pay that wage will be given a tax break. In fact, if corporations could deduct employee salaries from their income taxes, they just might start bri...

Re: A NEW QUARTER MINTED FOR 2020, AND I LOVE IT!!!!

If they only mint them for one year, they could, conceivably become collectors items. As for it being fruit bats, your gess is as good as mine as to why.

A NEW QUARTER MINTED FOR 2020, AND I LOVE IT!!!!

Hi Folks: I just got off facebook. The Federal Reserve is going to be minting and putting into a circulation, a new quarter that has fruit bats on the back of it. I was thinking what a great Halloween quarter, and I can't wait until I can pick up a couple of rolls of them at my bank. One roll will ...

Re: ONLY 10 MORE MONTHS TO HALLOWEEN

Why wait 6 or 7 months? I plan to purchase a few Halloween doo-dads online as soon as I get my next pension payment. And you're right. It does come and go faster and faster as we get older, and next Halloween is going to be a once in a life time 'trick or treat,' with a full moon, on a Saturday and...

Re: How long do you leave your Christmas decorations up?

They also have the right weather for it, Murf. I was there once in late January a long time ago. It was a little chilly, but it wasn't freezing cold, snow on the ground and ice to slip on everywhere you look. It's a great place for people who like the carnival atmosphere. My oldest niece and her hu...

Re: HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

So.....any long-term Halloween plans?? I know that I am going to do barbecued brisket or barbecued spare ribs in the crock pot, and have a party some time in October prior to the 'big day.'

Re: Christmas / New Years 2019

Happy New Year. 2019 was great to me. I hope 2020 is every bit as good. A job and a new car would be nice, but I'll settle for one for now, and the other for 2021. I don't want to be greedy.

Re: What made you mad today?

With the Illinois minimum wage going up to 15.00 per hour, a full time job at Walmart or McDonalds would work great for me. That would put quite a lot of supplement into my income. Unfortunately they all seem to favor younger job seekers. I'm pushing 60. At any rate, I won't quit until I find a job...

Re: ONLY 10 MORE MONTHS TO HALLOWEEN

I just installed a new phono preamp on my stereo system and am absolutely awed by it. I love it so much, in fact, that I played the sound track record of "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" to inaugurate it.

Happy New Year.
