Scarefest haunted attractions in St. Louis

looking forward to visiting all 3 "Scarefest.com" haunted houses in the St. Louis area - The Darkness, Creepyworld screampark, and the Lemp Brewery haunted caverns. The Darkness gets all of the press for the STL haunted scene nationally, but the other 2 hold their own - the brewery caverns are an am...

Re: I got the Bug

as a usual-lurker-and-occasional-poster, its reassuring (and fun) to come back to this forum & find all of you kindred spirits thinking the same thing I am - Halloween suddenly feels right around the corner. I know a couple of you mentioned it above in the thread, but this weather across most of the...

Re: Halloween Bucket List

I posted this on a different thread, so not to be redundant, but I can't think of a more historic & awesome place to spend Halloween night then at the original gathering spot of the Druidic Samhain bonfire: http://www.spiritsofmeath.ie/ closer around here, I would love to take part in a professional...

Re: Halloween Activities so far?

we've gotten off to a pretty good start here, the house is 90% decorated inside & out (just a little bit to do downstairs), and we've already done a big screening w/ friends of "Trick R Treat" last Saturday night (the atmosphere in a way-over-decorated house is perfect for that movie). This Saturday...

thanks! yep, we can't wait for when he's about 11 months old in time for his first night of Trick 'r treating! (so what if he's in a stroller & mom & dad are eating all of the candy!)

Re: My Favorite Things About Halloween

thanks! I've been technically on here for a couple of years, but I mostly just read what you guys are posting. I'm actually right across the river from you in Hazelwood (think: about a mile or 2 from Hazelwood West, if you know where the Riverwood subdivisions are). We get bombarded here - in a good...

Re: 2012 Sightings

this year I found myself in a unique position. I'm a high school teacher, so I have fairly "regular" hours (M-F days, not counting the odd work at home). My wife found out that she was going to be working some evenings this fall, so I was going to have some extra free time. That combined with the ne...

Re: what is your favorite things about halloween

going with the theme of the jack 'o lanterns - is there any better smell in the world than that certain smell the fills the air when all of the neighborhood jack 'o lanterns' candles are burning? that burning-pumpkin smell, THAT instantly takes me back to timeless memories that stretch back into chi...

Re: Official drink of Halloween

for the legal adults out there, as good & traditional as spiced cider is, few things beat a good pumpkin ale from a good microbrewery. In STL, we have a really good one by Schlafly's a local microbrewer, plus a few others.

Re: With a yard haunt, should the porch lights stay on?

I noticed a couple of you mentioned using the compact flourescent "black lights" in your front porch lamp. I haven't put one in because of the warning to "not use in a completed enclosed recessed light", so instead I've just used one of those traditional purple light bulbs (which isnt' as cool becau...

Re: At What Age Did you Stop Trick or Treating?

I don't mean an actual pit in the ground, like at a camp site, I mean one of those metal fire bowls that people buy for their back yard or deck (mine is actually a metal bowl surrounded by a slate ledge, perfect for propping up your feet). I don't know if its a local STL thing or not, but around her...
