Real Eggs or Plastic Eggs for your Easter Egg Hunts?

Postby MauEvig » Sat Mar 29, 2014 3:43 pm

I kind of prefer the plastic myself. The reason being is they are usually filled with candy, and if you don't find them you don't have to worry about the rotten egg smell.

We do still do the egg coloring with real eggs, but we usually just eat those. lol.

What do you guys think? Should you hide real eggs, or would it be better to use plastic ones?

I remember when I was a kid, they'd have a big easter egg hunt in the park next to my grandma's. I believe if you found a gold or silver egg, that had money inside.

I did a mix and of real and plastic, and counted all the eggs I put outside, that way you don't miss any. :wink:

Counting them is a good idea, as well as having them outside.
Sometimes people have them inside, and if you miss just one, rotton eggs. So we never hid the real ones, just colored, ate and gave them to family.
They go pretty good with toast though. ^^;

We used a combination of both back when I was a kid. The real eggs where for coloring and eating when found, and the plastic ones usualy had 50 cents in them, and a piece of bubble gum or a tootsie roll.

I use a mix of both in the baskets, but for our yard hunt I generally use the real ones. If they aren't found, no matter. Some little critter will find them out there.

I think for the most part, Easter Egg hunts were inside. But when i was little I was also taken to that Easter Egg hunt at the Park next to my Grandma's house.
I think the schools did Easter Egg hunts for kids too, and they were usually outside.
I might have done an Easter Egg hunt outside at home before though, but they were usually inside.
In any case, every time there was an egg hunt, the artificial eggs were used.

They use to have an Easter Egg Hunt at Mt. Greenwood Park for a few years. It fizzled out, however, because of lack of interest. The only event that I really cared for that park would hold would be their Halloween party. I had fun playing on the swings, and playing sand lot baseball with my buddies, but for the most part, the events they held where more geared for grown-ups then for kids, with the only exception of the Halloween party.
