Some people told me Halloween brownies are good! Of course, I do know that.... but there are orange brownies??? WTF??? It's not brownies with dark chocolate, something that is orange chocolate brownies! I've never seen it before! Anyone know?

You can find different colored "chocolate" at bulk stores. Chocolate makers use them. They're like white chocolate; they technically aren't chocolate but you can use them the same way. It's also possible to add food coloring to the brownies to help get the orange color. Of course adding orange icing is easy.

Ok, thanks. I'll look up the recipe online.

If they were orange, they wouldn't be Brownies. They would be Orangies.

Mike Yes, that's true. I've never had like those orange brownies before, and I'm still looking for it. I know most of the grocery stores don't make and sell them. I guess I have to keep searching, or I should make my own ones.

Make a batch of brownies. Then, make a batch of buttercream icing (or pick up a can of vanilla icing at the store). Add in a half a teaspoon of orange extract or orange liqueur, two drops of red food coloring and two drops of yellow. Mix it until it looks and smells orange, then spread it on the top of the brownies before cutting them. Orange and chocolate go well together flavor-wise. BAM! Orange brownies.

That all sounds good except fo the liquor. I can't stand liquor deserts. In act, I would just go with the red & Yellof food coloring, and pumpkin flavored icing.

Fair enough. In fact, I kinda like the idea of making the icing pumpkin flavored instead of orange. Pumpkin and chocolate... that's a combo I haven't tried yet!

I made some pumpkin muffins once, and had the idea to add a little chocolate fudge icing to the tops..the result? Heaven!

It's not brownies with dark chocolate, something that is orange chocolate brownies! I've never seen it before! Anyone know? Its actually quite easy to do. I do this alot in all my own baking/holiday foods. When I know I want something to taste and look a certain way, and I know something will interfere with the other, I just leave it out and find an alternative. Say in this instance, adding cocoa powder or syrup would interfere with being able to turn them orange, so take it out. What I'd do is find a recipe where you make it from scratch, and substitute cocoa extract for the power, then use food coloring. The cocoa extract will work like others ie: Vanilla extract, and give you the chocolate flavor you want and also not color the batter before you add the food coloring.

There are also pumpkin swirl brownies - basically two batters: one is chocolate brownie the other is pumpkin (some versions have cream cheese and pumpkin) swirled together to give it a brown/orange marbled effect. Very cool looking and tasty.

Very cool looking and tasty. Wow! That would be delightful to see a pic of it if you have one, or find one to post it here.
